Adult Education Instructor- Full Time
Job Summary:
Adult Education Instructor
Under the supervision of the Dean of Adult Education, the Adult Education Instructor prepares and delivers standards-based instruction in either High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation (e.g., GED and HiSET) or English as a Second Language (ESL). This full-time position requires teaching a combination of morning, afternoon, and evening classes, with instruction provided both in person and online, depending on student and program needs.
In addition to classroom teaching and evaluating student progress, the instructor provides first-level support to adult education instructors and staff on the assigned campus and ensures compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.

| Deliver standards-based instruction for High School Equivalency (HSE) Tests (i.e., GED and HiSET)/(TABE) Test, Adult Basic Education, and/or English Second Language. Recruits, supervises and directs classroom volunteers. | (70%) |
| Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction and obtains or prepares instructional materials for classroom use. Coordinates schedule for teacher substitutes and volunteers. | (10%) |
| Provide first level support to all instructors and staff in the Adult Education program at Douglasville campus of WGTC. Prepares and maintains all required documents and administrative reports. | (10%) |
| Engage in recruitment and retention activities, promotes the adult education program to public and private organizations throughout the Service Delivery Area of the College. | (5%) |
Plans, organizes and participates in staff development and team conferences. | (2.5%) |

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time instructor position. Work load is Monday-Friday, combination of morning, afternoon and evening hours are required.

Rate of Pay:
$50,000 per year.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience teaching adults basic academic skills (reading, math, writing) in a formal educational setting and/or teaching experience in middle, secondary, adult or post-secondary education.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Teaching experience in adult education within the last two years.
Advanced degree in content areas of reading, math, English, curriculum and instruction, adult education, ESL or special education.
Experience working in a formal classroom.
Experience with blackboard.
Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills;
