This position is fully funded through a grant. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the renewal and availability of grant funds. If grant funding ends or is reduced, the position may be discontinued or adjusted accordingly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Georgia Department of Driver Services is seeking an experienced Administrative Support Supervisor to join our CDL Programs Unit. This role serves as the primary point of contact for the public and key stakeholders regarding commercial driver’s license (CDL) medical certifications.
Working under limited supervision, the successful candidate will:
• Lead a team performing diverse administrative and clerical tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Inspect and analyze documentation, compile and interpret data, conduct research, and triage customer inquiries.
• Process medical certification data from the National Registry II and accurately update driver records, while also training others in these processes.
• Apply a thorough understanding of policies, rules, statutes, and federal regulations related to the issuance, renewal, revocation, and reinstatement of Georgia CDLs.
• Research case information, evaluate data, and determine medical certification status in accordance with established guidelines
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
This position requires a strong attention to detail, a commitment to customer service excellence, and the ability to work both independently and as a team leader.
Additionally, the incumbent will respond to upper management and customer inquiries professionally and promptly, reflecting the core values of the Department of Driver Services. This role requires maintaining a positive attitude, adapting to change in a fast-paced environment, and investigating customer complaints to present findings and recommend solutions to management. The incumbent will also contribute to task teams, workgroups, and special projects, assist in developing and delivering training events, and participate in outreach initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Admin Support 3 (GSS082) or position equivalent. Must show ability to lead or supervise a team.
Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications the preferred candidate should also possess three or more of the following:
• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Five (5) years of experience in a professional customer service environment handling multiple tasks and telephone calls
• Five (5) of experience processing customer/patient records, claims, or cases
• Five (5) years of experience interpreting state and/or federal rules and regulations
• Two (2) years of experience interpreting and reviewing medical terminology.
