Adjunct Faculty (APO) - Criminal Justice
DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Division Chair of Industrial Technologies & Professional Studies instructs students in Criminal Justice and/or Forensics.
The successful candidate may be required to teach courses on the DeKalb Campus and/or the Newton Campus.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates and ensures the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of grades and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements), and oral and written communication skills. Maintains certifications and ensures instructor’s qualifications for employment as described by the Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and accreditation standards. Follows and enforces rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
Applicant must be able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or Forensic Science from a national or regionally accredited college or university. The successful candidate may also hold a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or Forensic Science. Appropriate degree must reflect the requirements of the College’s accrediting agency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least seven (5) of the last ten (10) years of professional experience in the field of criminal justice to include: law enforcement or crime scene investigations. Certifications, if any, must be in good standing, if applicable, in your specific area of expertise.
Experience in crime scene investigations. Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring high school and/or college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds is also desired.
Possess a comprehensive knowledge of current instructional techniques and technology and knowledge and experience in teaching. Knowledge of Blackboard and Banner Web is desirable.
Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and people skills.
