Primary Function of the Accounting Technician:

The primary function of the Accounting Technician is to manage the day-to-day financial activities of the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Foundation.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Coordinator:

  • Project Coordination & Support: Coordinate, develop, monitor, and complete project initiatives associated with the assigned area. Provide regular updates on project activities, status, and evaluation of project goals.

  • Day-to-Day Accounting: Handle the Foundation’s day-to-day accounting functions, including cash receipts, deposits, disbursements, and grant management.

  • Accounting Records & Financial Statements: Maintain accurate accounting records and internal controls in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including monthly closing procedures and journal entries.

  • Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly account reconciliations in a timely manner, including bank reconciliations and reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.

  • Internal Control Oversight: Monitor internal controls over receipts and disbursements, ensuring proper segregation of duties and compliance with the Foundation’s accounting policies and procedures.

  • Finance Committee Support: Assist in preparing accounting-related materials for presentation to the Finance Committee, Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees.

  • Restricted Net Assets: Reconcile and monitor temporarily and permanently restricted net assets to ensure they are used in accordance with donor instructions.

  • Fixed Assets & Depreciation: Reconcile fixed asset details and manage the depreciation schedule.

  • Debt & Interest Expense: Reconcile debt and related interest expense.

  • Year-End Engagement & Tax Form 990: Coordinate the necessary information for the year-end attest engagement (audit, review, or compilation) by the independent accounting firm and prepare required schedules. Also, coordinate the preparation of the Foundation’s annual Tax Form 990 by the due date, in cooperation with the outside accounting firm.

  • Grant Reporting & Project Monitoring: Develop and coordinate project initiatives, ensuring timely completion of activities. Be mindful of grant reporting due dates.

  • Other Duties as Assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent *and* One (1) year of experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work.
