Accountant, Reporting & Compliance

The position is open to all applicants that meet the minimum qualifications below. 

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their fulltime Accountant, Reporting & Compliance position in the Office of Administrative Services.  The Accountant is responsible for performing professional accounting duties associated with analyzing and preparing financial reports and financial information.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

·         Participates in the compilation of data and prepares standard accounting reports, such as GAAP and Budgetary Basis financial statements, budgetary compliance reports and other annual reporting

·         Balances and reconciles accounting records, such as journals, ledgers, batch reports, bank statements, payroll documents, technical college specific reports or related documents

·         Maintains accounting file information

·         Participates in internal risk reviews

·         Performs limited clerical responsibilities

·         Responds to requests for information/advice and solves clerical problems; and

·         Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field *OR* Associate degree in accounting or related field *and* Two (2) years of accounting work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

·         Experience working with the State of Georgia accounting software TEAMWORKS

·         Proficiency working with EXCEL

·         Previous auditing or internal auditing experience

·         Previous experience preparing financial statements in accordance with GASB standards.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES 

·         Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

·         Knowledge of student accounts management practices

·         Knowledge of budgeting procedures

·         Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations

·         Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

·         Decision making and problem-solving skills

·         Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

·         Oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·         Work is primarily performed in an office environment and involves light physical duties, including intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. The employee must be able to lift up to five (5) pounds.
