The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is currently seeking an Accountant Professional (Accounts Receivable)- in the Office of Accounting Services.
The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 89 Executive Branch agencies and managed network services to more than 1,200 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery and security. Managed network services include the state’s wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring, and conferencing services.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Accountant performs subsidiary ledger to general ledger reconciliations, compiles and analyzes complex financial data to ensure the development of accurate and consistent financial and operating reports. Understands highly complex business requirements of the Accounting team, generally accepted accounting principles, and the overall operation of the authority as related to the processing of financial transactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares subsidiary ledger to general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepares and analyzes specialized, complex financial reports.
- Creates monthly miscellaneous retained file.
- Compiles and verifies the accuracy and validity of complex accounting transactions, including those related to collections, often requiring in-depth analysis and resolution.
- Applies generally accepted accounting principles in recording and reviewing financial activity.
- Assists with updating or implementing departmental policies and procedures that promote compliance with audit standards. Resolves complex financial issues related to the management of multiple projects.
- Provides customer service related to complex financial matters. Interacts with management of GTA and external entities.
- May compile information for or serve as a liaison to outside regulatory agencies and auditors.
· Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision, demonstrating thorough knowledge of more than one function area. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school or general equivalency diploma AND completion of governmental accounting series for state employees AND two years of experience at a level equivalent to Paraprofessional Accountant, Senior OR
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
(Preference will be given to candidates who, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience):
- State government accounts receivable experience
- Completion of the governmental accounting series
- PeopleSoft/Teamwork experience with State of Georgia
- Experience in collections including resolving payment discrepancies and managing outstanding balances
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft office
· Experience with financial monitoring, analysis, and report creation and/or presentation
COMPENSATION/WORKER TYPE/ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Hiring Salary: *$42,300 - 53,500.00
Worker Type: Hybrid – State of Georgia Remote Work Option
*Current Georgia state government employees will be subject to SPB rule provisions.
