This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Nursing Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Nursing and Life Sciences.

Salary: $ 80,000/yr

Schedule: 40-hours per week,at the Lawrenceville campus; Monday through Friday; May occasionally work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus

 Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10708): Doctorate or Master’s degree in the discipline. Current RN licensure in Georgia. At least one (1) earned graduate degree in nursing and at least three (3) years of  teaching experience in a nursing education program leading to initial registered nurse licensure. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all regulatory agencies and appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Prior teaching experience in a college-setting, post-secondary or technical education setting is required, including experience with curriculum design and development, student evaluation, and outcome assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in teaching college-level Nursing courses in two-year or degree-granting technical colleges. 3 years prior nursing experience in an educational setting as a medical surgical or mental health registered nurse/or hospital setting. Experience in nursing simulation is a plus. Experience in course and curriculum development, administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing education program. Demonstrated flexibility with the diverse student population and learning styles; demonstrated experience with various teaching strategies, including advanced instructional technologies. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Ability to teach in the classroom and multiple clinical settings. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use standard software programs.  

 Job Description Summary: The program director is responsible for the ongoing management, development, implementation, and instruction of the Associate Degree Nursing program.  Duties include curriculum design and development; instruction, recruitment, and advisement of students; budgeting; management of adjunct faculty; and participation in college committees and professional enhancement activities. The program director will teach a minimum of 19 contact hours of day or evening instructional courses per semester [not including Occupational Based-Instruction or internships]. Teaches face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed to provide course delivery and scheduling options that promote student retention and program completion. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program accreditation requirements. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Serves as the nurse administrator and accomplishes all duties adhering to the BON and ACEN requirements.

Develop certificate and associate degree curriculum.

  • Develop and revise curriculum that meets accreditation and state standards. 
  • Develop program, course, admission policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports as required by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and Board of Nursing (BON), as well as GTC program requirements.
  • Assume the leadership role in maintaining ACEN/BON accreditation.

Organizes and administers the educational program in accordance with the goals and objectives of the program and/or college

·         Performs administrative functions related to program records, program evaluations including assessment of learning outcomes, reports, program review, student records, and student evaluations.

·         Evaluates, selects, and requests educational materials and equipment.

·         Conducts and documents regular advisory committee meetings.

Prepares and teaches lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction for credited Nursing courses. (Performed by all incumbents) Provide for quality instructional services

  • Prepare and deliver effective instructional material using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Establish a classroom/lab organization and management system containing policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and assesses the educational needs and progress of program students.
  • Create a positive working atmosphere conducive to student learning. Delivers effective individualized programs of instruction to class members.
  • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
  • Correctly assesses the educational needs and class progress of students.
  • Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.
  • Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals and progress schedule.
  • Serves as a mentor for faculty (full/part-time) within program area.
  • Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, handbooks, and other appropriate materials.

·         Establishes criteria and tests the students in order to measure each student's progress.

·         Communicates students' progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.

·         Accurately records pertinent information in students' records as required.

·         Collaborate with the program support specialist and clinical coordinator to meet end-of-program student learning outcomes/program outcomes.

Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives. (Performed by some incumbents)

·         Prepares appropriate curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve objectives and goals of students.

·         Create, implement, evaluate, and Follows designated and approved lesson plan(s) using appropriate techniques and aids.

·         Participates in standing or ad hoc committee meetings relating to curriculum development, extracurricular activities and other technical college sponsored activities or programs as required.

·         Prepares program reports for submission to supervisor within specified time frames of request.

Maintain and develops continuous quality assessment and improvement strategies.

  • Evaluate current instructional techniques and support material.

Coordinate departmental activities.

  • Coordinate program and faculty activities, course schedules, and mentorship
  • Assist with hiring, and mentoring adjunct faculty.
  • Administer the program budget.
  • Coordinate with faculty, clinical coordinator, and program support specialist on clinical placement/rotations. 
  • Manage nursing department book adoption and processing to ensure accuracy
  • Manage external publishers and partners (Kaplan, DocuCare, Vsim, etc.)
  • Responsible for the administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing education program
  • Collaborate with the lab coordinator to ensure student success
  • Manage the program activities of the nursing program
  • Supervises part-time staff
