Accounts Payable Specialist

The position is open to all applicants that meet the minimum qualifications below. 

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their full-time Accounts Payable Specialist position in the Office of Administrative Services - Accounting.  This position will be responsible for processing and verifying accounts payable transactions and related processes.  The Accounts Payable Specialist must be able to perform a variety of accounts payable functions, ensure timely and accurate data entry and perform reconciliations.  This position must possess good communication skills as it works closely with other departments within the organization, third-party vendors, as well as other state organizations. This position is located at the TCSG System Office in Atlanta at 1800 Century Place, Atlanta, GA  30345.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

·         Prepares and verifies accounts payable vouchers, enters data into the State’s financial system and submits checks to vendors;

·         Monitors budget expenditures pertaining to accounts payable and notifies supervisor if expenditures exceed budgeted amounts;

·         Monitors cash disbursements daily and monthly;

·         Oversees or participates in the compilation of data and prepares standard accounting reports;

·         Audits travel expense statements for accuracy, authorization and compliance with state regulations;

·         Maintains vendor and other payable files;

·         Operates computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information;

·         Verifies and corrects accounting and financial information;

·         Maintains records, files and documentation related to accounting processes;

·         Copies, distributes, receives, and/or mails letters, bills, memos, statements of account, and other documents and materials;

·         Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Associate degree in Accounting, Public Administration or a closely related field *and* three years of experience in accounting. Related experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

·         Experience in TeamWorks Financial System - Accounts Payable Module

·         Experience with the State of Georgia Concur Application

·         Experience in Workday applications

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK CONDITIONS

·         Work is primarily performed in an office environment during standard business hours. Limited remote work may be available in accordance with agency policy and operational needs.

·         Work performance involves light physical duties, including intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.

·         Employees must be able to lift up to ten (10) pounds
