OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is part of the GDA Laboratory Administration located in Tifton, Georgia, and is a part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Laboratory Division.

·         Under general supervision, performs a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions for the Tifton Laboratory administrative office.

·         May enter date and/or process documents and records.

·         The work includes operating standard office equipment.

 

Applicants must reside in the following counties or be willing to relocate:

·         Tift

·         Tifton

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

·         This position is scheduled for less than 30 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

·         Must have the ability to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons (12:30 pm -4:30 pm)

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

·         High School diploma/ GED.

·         One (1) year of administrative/clerical experience.

·         (1) year of customer service.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Good communication & interpersonal skills

·         Customer service experience

·         Good organizational skills & time management
