OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Preferred Qualifications:

- Ten years of experience managing construction, renovations, and/or maintenance projects in a correctional, industrial, or hospital environment.
- Five years of experience performing hardening/security.
- Five years of correctional security experience in supervisory role.
- Sound working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
- Five years of experience performing material take offs for construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.
- Ten years of experience managing other subordinate managers/supervisors managing projects.
- Knowledge of GDC property rules and regulations regarding equipment, inventory, and supplies.
- Knowledge of State of Georgia purchasing rules and regulations.
- Five years of experience managing multiple projects, budgets, and capital outlay planning.
- Successful candidate must be highly organized and able to multitask

Notes:

- This position is based out of SOSTC in Lies Hall in Forsyth, GA.
- This position is part of the executive leadership team of Engineering and Construction Services who makes critical decisions in support of GDC facilities statewide.
- This position serves as the Sr Manager over the Construction Services and Design and Planning groups.
- Commute time traveling to Forsyth does not count as working hours.
- This position reports to the ECS Deputy Director and Director

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience managing professional level staff OR Eight years of related professional experience AND Four years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Four years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 2, Business Ops (GSM011) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
