OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Within the Georgia Public Health Laboratory this position serves as a Quality Analyst on the Quality Assurance team.  Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Director, the Quality Analyst will work to assure compliance with the requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) for a high-complexity clinical laboratory, implement the facility’s quality management system, and participate in continuous quality improvement activities.

The Quality Analyst will support implementation of our inventory management system (Odoo); assist with management of various applications within the Quality Management System (QMS) including the MediaLab document control system and Clinisys Laboratory Solutions (CLS); and play a key role in implementing CLS with the health districts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert in quality management systems, providing leadership and guidance to staff to ensure that quality policies, processes, and procedures are established, current, and followed by all laboratory staff. 
  • Oversee the facility’s inventory management system (Odoo), assisting laboratory sections with entering and labeling items.
  • Assist with managing the facility-wide document control system using MediaLab and newly implemented laboratory information management system (LIMS), Clinisys Laboratory Solutions (CLS).
  • Coordinate the completion of documentation of non-conforming events and assure implementation of corrective action.
  • Assist laboratory sections with completion of calibration/certification activities and assure participation in appropriate proficiency testing programs for all sections of the laboratory.
  • Participate in internal audits and external assessments by various regulatory agencies.

     
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role in the area of assignment; or six (6) years of experience in the area of assignment, including three (3) years in a managerial role; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Regulatory Compliance (RCM050) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MediaLab products.
  • Experience with using a laboratory information management system.
  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and 2 years of laboratory experience or 2 years of experience directing in a laboratory quality management system.
