OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Savannah Technical College - STC

Savannah Technical College is seeking part time/adjunct faculty for the Nurse Aide program on the Savannah, Liberty or Effingham Campuses.  The adjunct faculty member will provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to become employed in the healthcare profession.  The position also requires the supervision of students during patient care. 

 

Qualifications

-Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with a current active Georgia Nursing License in good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing. License cannot have the following status codes: probation, suspended, expired, lapsed, inactive, pending, renewal pending, revoked or surrendered

-Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience

-Train-the-Trainer Workshop attendance certificate from Alliant Health Solutions

-Must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults and/or supervising nurse aides

-Must be flexible to teach day or evening classes and 12 hour clinical rotations on weekdays and/or weekends.

-Must possess current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

-Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.

-Must possess skill in oral and written communication.

-Must possess basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, word; excel; power point; and email.

-Must possess excellent organizational skills. 

-Must possess excellent customer service skills to deal professionally with Savannah Tech employees, students, and visitors.

-Must follow standards for student-faculty professional relationships/interaction.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Instructor certification for CPR and First Aid preferred.

 

Physical Demands – Health Sciences – job requires classroom and clinical responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time.  The employee frequently lifts/carries objects that weigh 10lbs. or less.  Clinical responsibilities are typically performed in a hospital, long term care facility, or other medical facilities and require that the employee stand/or walk for ten (10) – twelve (12) hours: bend, twist, push/and or pull for three (3) – four (4) hours; and occasionally lift 50lbs. to 75lbs. per rotation.   The exposure to infectious diseases, gas, or fumes is possible during clinical rotations. 

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
