OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

MISSION AND CORE BELIEFS
The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. In all of our endeavors, DPS personnel will remain committed to following our core beliefs of trust, fortitude, compassion, and professionalism.

Work Hours: 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. 

  • Manages, plans, organizes, and directs all nursing activities in assigned facility. 
  • Responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered in hospitals, public health facilities, and community-based programs. 
  • Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. 
  • Acts as Campus Supervisor may re-assign staff based on critical needs.. 
  • Completes staffing assignments, i.e. work schedules/assigns training schedules etc. and other administrative tasks for the work area.. Provides recognition and critical performance feedback to staff.
  • Completes Annual Performance Evaluations.
  • Approves time off requests; completes Kronos timecard reconciliation and sign off.
  • Responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care.
  • Ensures that procedures are followed for incident management and reporting.
  • Works with Schedulers to cover critical shifts due to callouts, acuity.
  • Observe nurses to ensure that proper nursing care is provided.
  • Manages, plans, organizes, and directs all nursing activities for assigned area.
  • Coordinate response to disaster and emergencies.
  • Develop and manage the budget and make cost effective decisions.
  • Develop policy, set standards and plan objectives for the nursing program in accordance with established policies.
  • Develop staffing patterns.. Evaluate nursing standards and nurse protocols for all nursing programs.. Initiate and participate in the development of community wide policy to improve the health status of the stakeholder..
  • nterpret policy and communicate changes in regulations and procedures.
  • Make long-range plans and regularly review activities, problems and functions of services being delivered.
  • Organize and plan a systematic and continuous quality/performance improvement program for the practice of nursing.
  • Oversee the collection of data for statistical records.
