OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Maintenance Supervisor - Full Time

Atlanta Technical College

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Maintenance Supervisor (Full-Time) position in the Facility Operations division.  This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just south of Atlanta. 

 

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Supervisor (Full-Time) is responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance and repair of college buildings and grounds.

Duties include, but may not be limited to:

 

·       Trains, assigns, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of employees engaged in performing skilled and semi-skilled buildings and grounds maintenance and repair duties.

·       Supervises and participates in the repair and maintenance of college buildings, college equipment and vehicles.

·       Plans and directs renovation projects as assigned.

·       Completes carpentry projects.

·       Uses, distributes and maintains materials, tools and equipment.

·       Supervises and participates in grounds maintenance activities, including installing and maintaining landscaping and parking lots.

·       Responds to emergency requests for repairs.

·       Maintains records and logs of items such as time and materials expended on each work order and brief description of work performed.

·       Maintains systems and equipment.

  • Adheres to necessary safety precautions and compliance standards; and

·       Performs other duties as assigned.

 

COMPETENCIES:

 

·       Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and practices of building and grounds maintenance.

·       Knowledge of custodial tools, supplies and techniques.

·       Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.

·       Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC system maintenance and repair.

·       Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.

·       Decision making and problem-solving skills.

·       Experience in the supervision of personnel.

·       Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

·       Oral and written communication skills.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Must possess and demonstrate a high school diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years of directly related work experience.

 

 

PREFERRED Qualifications:

 

Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

·       Associate’s degree or higher in Maintenance, Commercial Construction Management or trades (HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing) and related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent.

·       HVAC or Electrical License.

·       Four (4) or more years of Journeyman level experience.

·       Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience.
