OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Lanier Technical College – (www.laniertech.edu) is gearing up for increased student enrollment for Fall Semester (beginning August 11th). Therefore, we are conducting a search now for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA-exempt position. NOTE: A background check is part of the selection process. POSITION:                ADJUNCT COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR- Hall Campus

 
REPORTS TO:           Dean of Business, Public Safety and Professional Services
 

SALARY:                   Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours

TARGET START DATES:    FALL SEMESTER - AUGUST 11TH, 2025

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned:

·         Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives;

·         Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught;

·         Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;

·         Administers and grades class examinations;

·         Maintains records of student grades;

·         Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;

·         Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas;

·         Meets ALL required deadlines;

·         Meets with students, staff members, supervisors as needed.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:     

Current GA Cosmetology license and demonstrated competencies in specific course content. Must have a minimum of three years appropriate work experience. 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials
Knowledge of vocational area of assignment
Skill in presenting subject matter
Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress
Skill in the use of computers and job related software programs
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners
Oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of student information systems

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):
Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level;

Postsecondary technical diploma in Cosmetology or closely related field.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
