OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. HRP020, HR Specialist 1 (J) - “HR Workforce Timekeeping (WFTK) & Benefits Coordinator”

Job Salary: $45,000.00

Job Summary: Under supervision, provides analysis, research and technical expertise in a specific area of personnel within an organization. Assists with projects that have a significant impact to the agency.

 

Job Specific Duties: Under general supervision, reviews and troubleshoots WFTK issues and concerns. This position will assist with benefits and serve as back up.

Note: This position may be filled at the higher level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

 

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience in human resources.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Experience with State Government Benefits (Health and Flex) or KRONOS Timekeeping (WFTK)

·         Possesses good computer skills, and demonstrated ability to run reports

·         Demonstrates strong analytical skills; detail-oriented 

·         Demonstrated experience identifying and analyzing problems; gathering, interpreting, and evaluating information to determine its accuracy and relevance 

·         Ability to work well with others to achieve team projects 

·         Displays high standards of ethical conduct and a high level of commitment toward performing work 

·         Displays a professional image

·         Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, with good presentation skills

·         Ability to communicate effectively with others in a courteous, professional manner

·         Committed to providing excellent customer service 

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

·         Experience in timekeeping system, KRONOS WFTK

·         Experience in State Government Benefits (Health and Flex)

·         Experience in Georgia State Government Health and Flex benefits

·         Ability to reconcile benefits billing

The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection. In addition to the interview, the final selection is based on the applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation) and, for supervisory positions, demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered.

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of issuance). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
