OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Job Summary:

 

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking full time Housekeeper 2 to maintain sanitation and cleanliness for our jail based competency restoration program which will be based onsite in Dodge County, Georgia.  

 
Job Description
 
  • Performs any combination of duties to maintain order, sanitation, and cleanliness in facilities.
  • Maintains supplies as needed. Operates hand tools and power cleaning equipment.
  • Observes required safety precautions in disposing of contaminated refuse. Maintains and stocks equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Ensures laundry, housekeeping and floor equipment is in good working condition. Collects, sorts, launders, transports and distributes linens and uniforms.
  • Cleans and straightens assigned areas
 
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an institutional/healthcare setting
  • One or more years working in housekeeping
  • Experience working as a LEAD or Supervisor

*Additional Information - Selected applicant must meet the following standards: 

1.    Must pass a pre-employment background check (which includes criminal records check, driver's history, and verification of work history) and a post-hire federal background investigation.

2.    Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program.

3.    Eligible to work in the U.S.

4.    Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

One (1) year of experience in related area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Housekeeper 1 (FES040) or position equivalent.
