OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Pathways Center is a behavioral healthcare company situated in the west Georgia region.  Treatment and Services include mental health, substance abuse/addictive disease, and intellectual & developmental disability services.

 

Pathways Center’s Outpatient Clinics provide services that include, but are not limited to, individual, group, and family education and counseling.  Treatment includes comprehensive, coordinated, and defined services that vary in level of intensity.  Outpatient services address a variety of needs such as situational stressors, family relations, interpersonal relationships, mental health issues, life span issues, psychiatric illnesses, addictions, and the needs of victims of abuse and/or trauma.  The treating clinicians work jointly with the persons served to maximize their functioning and manage the symptoms of their current situation.  The program is designed to enhance the strengths of the individual through recognized treatment interventions. 

 

The individual in the Front Office Coordinator position reports to the Clinical Site Supervisor.  Clinic operation hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 6pm, therefore the person in this position will work five days per week, 8 hours per day, with a varying schedule to ensure adequate front desk coverage.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·         Checks patients/clients in for appointments upon arrival to the clinic and verifies in CareLogic EMR all documents are completed

·         Notifies medical providers and clinicians after patient has checked in and is ready for appointment

·         Walk-Ins for Established Patients: Works with central scheduling team to locate same day appointment times and available clinicians

·         Walk-Ins for New Patients: Connects any new patients that walk into a clinic with the central scheduling department for registration purposes; once registered then appointments can be scheduled

·         Collects copays, coinsurance, and/or fees for scheduled services from patients/clients upon arrival to scheduled appointments and updates the CareLogic electronic health record system to record payment date and payment amount

·         Completes daily cash sheet reconciliation

·         Cleans and organizes waiting room area; ensures brochures, notifications, etc. are nicely presented

·         In compliance with federal HIPAA guidelines, cleans and organizes front office area keeping work space free of materials that may contain PHI (protected health information)

·         Maintains office equipment and an adequate amount of front office supplies to perform job duties

·         Coordinates any requests for medical records

·         Checks patients out and schedules any follow-up appointments

 

The person in this role must have the ability to stay focused while performing multiple job duties simultaneously with a positive and professional demeanor.

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of progressively complex office or administrative experience.
