OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. In all of our endeavors, DPS personnel will remain committed to following our core beliefs of trust, fortitude, compassion, and professionalism.

  • Works in the preparation, cooking, serving and distribution of food to customers, clients and/or employees.
  • Operates and maintains specialized food service equipment, and performs general facility and equipment sanitation maintenance in accordance with federal, state, and department guidelines. Serves as lead worker.
  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision. 
  • Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
  • Cleans, peels, slices and trims foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances.
  • Conducts or assists with food supply requisitions and sanitation and maintenance inspections.
  • Coordinates the daily work schedule of cashiers with the cafeteria manager. Monitors the cash registers and cashier's breaks. 
  • Observes safety, sanitation and health rules and standards. Portions food or places it directly on plates for service to facility residents, employees or patrons and packages takeout foods. Prepares foods. Receives payment for food items.
  • Replenishes supplies of food, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars.
  • Serves as a lead worker to assigned food service workers. Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage. Takes customers' orders and serves customers. Trains workers in food preparation, and in service, sanitation, and safety procedures. Unpacks and stores supplies, raw and prepared food products
High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in the area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Food Svc Worker 2 (FFS011) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
