OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Job Responsibilities:

1.      Under general supervision, demonstrates the ability to produce high quality, complaint meals through a combination of culinary skill, directives from leadership, and  resources such as menus, recipes, policies, etc.

2.      Completes all paperwork accurately, thoroughly, and timely using a mix of online and paper systems.

3.      Maintains a high level of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation. Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, storage areas, dishes, and dining area.

4.      Cooks and prepares food according to established procedures and standardized recipes.

5.      Follows preparation and serving schedule for all meals and snacks daily.

6.      Ensures, maintains, and documents appropriate temperature of hot and cold foods prepared and held for service.

7.      Stores food according to proper temperature guidelines in appropriate areas.

8.      Prepares food through the proper usage of large equipment, small wares, and utensils.

9.      Prepares serving line by setting up food and supplies in the correct area and ensures temperatures remain in appropriate range throughout service.

10.  Provides customer service by serving food in a pleasant, courteous, and attractive manner.

11.  Follows safe food handling procedures to help ensure the health and safety for customers.

12.  Follows menus, standardized recipes, portion sizes, and special diet menus.

13.  Reports maintenance needs immediately.

14.  Demonstrates cost awareness in the use of property and supplies.

15.  Operates and maintains equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines.

16.  Ensures quality of items received from vendors and matches deliveries to invoice to ensure correct quantities and items.

17.  Ensures proper inventory management and orderly storage. Follows first-in-first-out inventory management procedure and monitors weekly, or more often, for expired products in all storage areas.

18.  Follows tool and chemical control procedures and completes accurate perpetual chemical inventory records.

19.  Cleans equipment after use and prepares equipment for next use.

20.  Demonstrates knowledge of sanitation and safety practices, proper cleaning methods, and uses the correct chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.      High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience in a food service operation in a capacity that involved formal supervision of workers

OR

2.       One year of experience at the lower level Food Svc Spec 1 (FFT010) or position equivalent.
