This position requires teaching responsibilities for credit courses within the School of Health, Education and Professional Services. Instruction will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve internet classes. The instructor must be competent in the Cosmetology content for the course(s) to be taught. The instructor will report to the Dean of Health, Education and Professional Services.
The instructor must possess the ability to teach the Cosmetology curriculum. This position requires the flexibility to teach day, online, weekend or evening classes, evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives, ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area, and meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations of shears or other equipment used in the functioning of duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
A High School diploma or equivalent. Must hold a current Master Cosmetologist License issued by the Georgia Board of Cosmetology. License must be maintained throughout employment. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of current instructional techniques and technology. Must demonstrate excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills. A flexible work schedule is necessary, as classes may be taught during day, evening, and Saturday periods. Three or more years, within the last seven, of full-time, paid in-field work experience in a salon.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Cosmetology instructor License. Three or more years, within the last seven, of full-time teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary Cosmetology Program. Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of Blackboard Learning Management System. The candidate can hold a Master in Barbering License and Barbering Instructor.
