OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking candidates for the position of Clerical Worker/Part Time for the HRIS Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

Saturday, Sunday 6:00 am – 12:00 pm, Holidays

$20.00 Per Hour

 

Job Description:

Compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic clients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Process, maintain, compile, and report client information for health requirements and standards.

 

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

·       Compiles and maintains clients' medical records to document condition and treatment and to provide data for research or cost control and care improvement efforts

·       Enters data, such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures and treatment into computer Identifies, compiles, abstracts and codes client data, using standard classification systems

·       Plans, develops, maintains and operates a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store and analyze information Processes client admission and discharge documents

·       Protects the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained

·       Releases information to persons and agencies according to regulations

·       Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations.

 

Sample Technical Competencies:

1.     Knowledge of the coding system related psychiatric and medical diagnosis. Knowledge of medical, psychiatric, and anatomical terminology

2.     Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment

3.     Ability to organize and prepare reports and summaries for oral and written presentation

4.     Ability to analyze and evaluate medical records to apply established standards, regulations and laws to specific problems.
