OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Responsibilities

Community Residential Services (CRA) are targeted for individuals who require intense levels of support.  These services are a range of interventions with a particular focus on training and support in one or more of the following areas: eating and drinking, toileting, personal grooming and health care, dressing, communication, interpersonal relationships, mobility, home management, and use of leisure time.  CRA services are individually planned and tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual and to accommodate fluctuations in his or her needs for various services.  CRA services consist of medically related services, such as basic first aid, arranging and transporting individuals to medical appointments, assisting with therapeutic exercises, and assisting with or supervising self-administration of medication.  CRA services include transportation to all other services specified in the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and as needed to facilitate the individual's participation in personal shopping, recreation, and community activities.  Individuals receive CRA services in small group settings of four or less, in host home/life sharing situations for adults 19 years and above.

 

As a provider of these services, Pathways Center ensures quality of care through several processes, one of which is through required documentation of each individual's daily activities.  Capturing the daily health activity of the individuals served is vital to measuring progress towards the treatment plan and goals outlined in the Individual Service Plans (ISP's).

 

The person in this role will provide community residential services to individuals with developmental disabilities.  These services are a range of interventions with a particular focus on training and support in one daily living skills to include eating and drinking, toileting, personal grooming and health care, dressing, communication, interpersonal relationships, mobility, home management, and use of leisure time.  Services are individually planned and tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.

 

Responsibilities for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) include but are not limited to the following:

 

         Assists with the development of an individual service/treatment plan for each assigned client

         Observes and monitors client's behavior and charts observations and incidents

         Provides training of basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills to clients

         Arranges for medical care and provides support to ensure that medical care is obtained

         Ensures and encourages client group activity

         Provides transportation for client(s) as needed for individual and/or group community outings

         Limited case management duties

         Counsels and advises clients on behavioral problems, daily decision-making, and the resolution of minor problems

         Participates in Individual Service Plan meetings/Case Reviews consulting with the team to evaluate the client’s needs and plan for continuing services

         Performs housekeeping duties such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands

         Plans, shops for, and prepares nutritious meals taking into consideration any dietary needs/requirements

Documents client progress and services provided on a daily basis, reporting any changes in client condition to all members of the client’s direct care treatment team

Minimum Qualifications

License as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Georgia

High school diploma/GED and six (6) months of relevant job-related training or experience.
