Job Duties

The Georgia Academy for the Blind is accepting applications for Special Education teachers for students with multiple disabilities in self-contained classroom settings.  Applicants should hold or be eligible for; a certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission in the area of Special Education Adapted Curriculum Consultative and must meet the definition of Highly Qualified as defined by NCLB. Provides a comprehensive educational program to meet the needs of students who are visually impaired or multi-disabled in a residential school setting. Responsibilities include assessing and documenting students' educational needs to develop and implement appropriate instructional plans; developing appropriate instructional materials; and integrating assistive technology into classroom activities; and utilizing innovative and research based instructional techniques and practices.  These positions will teach visually impaired/multi-disabled students in Early Childhood (P-5) or Middle Schools (4-8) or High School.

 

**Salary Starting: 40,000**
