Accounting Office, State - SAO

The State Accounting Office (SAO) provides accounting and financial reporting expertise for the State and is statutorily responsible for statewide financial reporting. The SAO also provides enterprise oversight and management of the State’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, accounting policy development, financial business process improvement recommendations, and management of the payroll and accounting shared service centers.

 

Position Description:

 

Under general supervision, applies project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in supporting project leads and driving the development and application of project management methodology and culture.

 

Project Manager 1 – ITP111

Pay Grade: L

Salary range: $47,982.94 - $63,351.55

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

 

·        Supervises, monitors and develops systems project tasks and schedules for system development, maintenance or enhancement

·        Directs and develops, communicates and monitors quality assurance and testing project work plans and schedules for the application software development

·        Tracks and controls project resources and staffing

·        Creates reports on status of agency information security programs and projects

·        Directs supervisors and staff as it relates to the management of projects

·        Analyzes trends to anticipate and adapt to changes

·        Assesses and manages project risks, analyze critical paths, and establish work breakdown structures

·        Follows established project criteria and procedures for project activities, ensuring that priorities, objectives, and activities are consistent with agency and entity goals

·        May manage internal projects or sub-projects of larger projects

·        Serves as principal focal point for project implementation by coordinating and managing multiple complex project activities following widely recognized industry standards for the formulation and completion of work in the area of project management

·        Follows widely recognized industry standards for the formulation and completion of work in project management

·        Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

·        Ability to communicate to management, business, and technical personnel

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of recent relevant project management experience with a progression in responsibility and eligibility to sit for Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.  Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess the following:

 

·        Understanding of System Development Life Cycle

·        Experience with Microsoft Project, Outlook, Visio, and the Microsoft Office Suite

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills

·        Skilled at conflict resolution

·        Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

·        Ability to communicate to management, business, and technical personnel

·        State employee work experience

·        PeopleSoft work experience

·        Accounting work experience

·        PMP certified
