The Department of Revenue is hiring for a Developer 1 position in the IT Division. This role involves gathering and analyzing requirements, developing applications, managing version control updates, creating and reviewing design documentation, debugging software, testing applications, preparing implementation specifications, and providing support for production applications.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative in staying updated on system changes, have a strong understanding of various software development methodologies, including Traditional and Agile, and excel at managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

The Developer 1 is responsible for researching and analyzing program or system issues while creating detailed program documentation. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
•    Delivering reliable production support for the GenTax application, including bug fixes and new development as needed.
•    Performing program analysis, coding, and testing tasks efficiently and within the timeframes agreed upon with the Manager.
•    Utilizing strong technical writing skills to update application documentation and diagrams as required.
•    Addressing application issues promptly and effectively.
•    Converting business requirements into secure, maintainable, and high-quality code.

Entry Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED ***Priority consideration will be given exclusively to current Department of Revenue employees and contractors within the IT Division.

Required Skills & Experience
•    VB.NET or C# development experience
•    Working knowledge of SQL, including basic query optimization
•    Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
•    Familiarity with change management and basic testing practices
•    Clear written/verbal communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications
•    Ability to support production issue triage and resolution
•    1 year of ITS/GenTax (or similar enterprise) development experience
•    Exposure to solution/code reviews and test planning/execution

Position Status & Pay Grade: Unclassified – Pay Grade M
Hiring Range: Up to $72,800

Location: Century Center Office - This vacancy requires office hours of 8am to 5pm, Monday – Friday. Telework options are subject to change based on DOR policies and ability to meet performance expectations.
