OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is a multi-faceted agency, led by Commissioner Shawanda Reynolds-Cobb, that serves the state’s justice-involved youth up to age 21. More than 3,400 DJJ employees work diligently to effect justice and shape the young lives in the agency’s care, so they can become contributing members of society. DJJ provides medical and mental health treatment, as well as specialized programs designed to equip the youth with the social, intellectual, and emotional tools they will need as adults. As Georgia’s 181st school district, DJJ offers youth the opportunity to earn a high school diploma from an educational system accredited by AdvancED.

Job Summary

Under broad supervision, performs any combination of duties to maintain order, sanitation and cleanliness in facilities. Maintains supplies as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision

Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas

May supervise and/or direct the work of others

Cleans and straightens assigned areas

Ensures laundry, housekeeping and floor equipment is in good working condition

Maintains and stocks equipment and supplies as needed

Makes specialized clothing and other items (eg restraining clothing, helmets, surgical gowns)

Mends and makes minor alterations to residents' clothing and other items Makes simple repairs to upholstery and mattresses

Observes required safety precautions in disposing of contaminated refuse

Operates hand tools and power cleaning equipment

Plans, develops, schedules and implements laundry services

 

Minimum Qualifications:

One (1) year of experience as a lead worker in a related area of assignment

One (1) year of experience at the lower level Housekeeper 2 (FES041) or position equivalent.
