******** This announcement is ongoing and will be used to fill a limited number of paid intern positions for the Summer and Fall 2026 semesters.

The Pardons and Paroles Internship Experience

The goal of our internship program is to provide a nontraditional, multi-faceted experience that allows interns to gain insight, develop interest, and receive exposure to specialty areas within a law enforcement agency that they may not have previously considered.

Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience across multiple units and divisions of the Parole Board, including Pre-Release Considerations, Investigations, Post-Release Considerations, Victim Services, Information Technology, and Communications. This rotational experience provides exposure to the collaborative work that supports public safety, victim advocacy, and successful reentry across the state of Georgia.

Through this internship experience, students will gain valuable insight into the operations of a state criminal justice agency and the role of parole in promoting public safety and community reintegration.

We are seeking dynamic and energetic interns who are eager to learn about the agency while assisting work units with projects as assigned. Successful interns will demonstrate a willingness to support supervisors and staff with a variety of tasks and initiatives while developing practical workplace skills.

Interns may assist with both upcoming projects and ongoing initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in government operations. Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing administrative support within assigned divisions

  • Assisting staff and customers with basic technical or program-related inquiries

  • Reviewing and processing transactions within the assigned program area

  • Verifying data and monitoring transactions for compliance with agency policies, procedures, and program requirements

  • Supporting division projects and operational initiatives as needed

Professional Development and Learning Outcomes

By participating in the Pardons and Paroles Internship Experience, interns will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain exposure to the parole decision-making and supervision process

  • Develop an understanding of the criminal justice system and state government operations

  • Strengthen professional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Observe how different divisions work together to support public safety and victim services

  • Build practical experience that supports future careers in criminal justice, public administration, law enforcement, victim advocacy, or related fields
