The Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordinating HIV prevention initiatives, training, and capacity-building efforts throughout Georgia. This role involves community engagement, project management, and collaboration with key stakeholders to enhance HIV/AIDS prevention and care.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work with state agencies, health departments, and community organizations to develop HIV prevention initiatives. 
  • Project management for Priority Populations. 
  • Develop procedures, protocols, and guidelines for the program.
  • Serves as point of contact for partner services matter between the Office of HIV, STD Office and health districts.
  • Review field and interview records submitted by health districts for completeness and inaccurate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Conduct case reviews and assessments of health districts to ensure programmatic goals and objectives are met; and advise of actions to improve programmatic outcomes.
  • Provide partner service technical assistance and make recommendations to public health districts to improve disease intervention.
  • Review field and interview records submitted by health districts for completeness and inaccurate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Community Engagement: Organize summits, social marketing campaigns, and HIV awareness events. 
  • Training & Capacity Building: Deliver seminars and technical assistance to integrate targeted HIV/AIDS prevention messaging.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor HIV/AIDS trends, evaluate initiatives, and provide recommendations for improvement. 
  • Advisory & Leadership Roles: Serve on advisory committees and lead workgroups to assess community interventions. 
Additional Information:

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. 

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

State of Georgia employees are subject to the rules of the State Personnel Board regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Relocation assistance is not provided.

Standard Benefits for Part-Time Employees

Part-time employees are eligible to participate in the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan and receive paid parental leave.

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Prgm Consultant 1 (GSP090) or any other combination of education and professional experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.
