Lanier Technical College (www.laniertech.edu) – Hall County campus; Gainesville, GA - is conducting a search for this full-time, benefits-eligible, FLSA-exempt, salaried position.  It is based at our Hall County campus; however, will teach at any campus location necessary.   NOTE:  A pre-employment background check, pre-employment drug screen, and professional reference check are part of the selection process.  Please contact Human Resources at 770-533-6903 or cantrell@laniertech.edu if any assistance/accommodation is needed in the application/interview process. POSITION:                Practical Nursing Instructor

 

REPORTS TO:         Dean of Allied Health

 

SALARY:                  Low to Mid $70’s annually, depending on education and experience

 

EFFECTIVE:            This position is available now

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:        

 

Under general supervision of the Dean of Allied Health (and “dotted-line” supervision of the Practical Nursing Program Director), is responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the Practical Nursing certificate program. This person will also assist with programmatic accreditation needs, student advisement and registration, orientation activities and annual graduation events. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Associate’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university

·         Current active Georgia Nursing License (RN) in good standing with Georgia Board of Nursing

·         Registered nurse (RN) with three (3) years of nursing experience in the preceding seven (7) years

·         Demonstrated professional competence through such activities as continuing education programs, nursing practice, and/or academic study courses

·         Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association

·         Experience in teaching adults and supervising nursing students.

 

COMPETENCIES:

·         Knowledge of course standards and skill/expertise in subject area

·         Ability to teach at any college campus as needed as well as clinical locations

·         Ability to instruct in a clinical component, online, laboratory, classroom, or simulation setting depending on the course requirements

·         Ability to work flexible schedule, including day and evening hours

·         Ability to understand, accept and follow directions

·         Skill in the operation of work-related computers

·         Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level

·         Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare lesson materials

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·         Effective decision making and problem-solving skills

·         Flexibility to adjust work hours based on the needs of the college, 40 hours weekly.

·         Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner, and to maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff

 

 

PHYSICAL COMPONENTS:

Lift or move objects up to 20 pounds daily. Lift or move objects up to 50 pounds (with assistance) occasionally in lab or clinical. Work is performed in an office, lab, and clinical environment with sitting, standing, walking for long periods in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes and skill demonstration.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):

·         Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing

·         BLS Instructor Certified through the A.H.A.

·         More than 3 years of nursing experience in the preceding seven (7) years

·         Experience in teaching & curriculum development in online & traditional classroom settings

·         Active participation in appropriate professional/occupational organizations

·         Clinical or educational administration experience; recent electronic health record use/charting experience and clinical skills

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
