Lanier Technical College - is conducting search for the following part-time position to teach at the Empower College and Career Academy in Jackson County.  NOTE:  A background check and reference check are part of the selection process.  Please contact Human Resources at 770-533-6903 or humanresources@laniertech.edu if any assistance/accommodation is needed in the application/interview process.

POSITION:  AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR, Winder-Barrow Campus          

REPORTS TO:           Dean of Applied Technology and Transportation

SALARY RANGE:     Dependent on education and experience

EFFECTIVE:              August 1, 2026

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives; Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Automotive Technology courses; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Requests and maintains supplies and equipment; Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area; Meets with students, staff members to review progress of the students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A diploma in Automotive Technology or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.  3 years of paid work experience as an Automotive technician.  Current ASE certifications in Electrical and Engine performance areas.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·         Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.

·         Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.

·         Skill to work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff

·         Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content

·         Skill to make timely decisions

·         Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

·         Effective decision making and problem-solving skills;

·         Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

·         Effective oral and written communication skills

·         General knowledge of the Automotive Technology and Service Industry

·         Courses Taught include:

o    Introduction to Automotive Technology

o    Automotive Electrical Systems

o    Engine Performance

o    Engine Repair

o    Brake Systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum & technical competencies):

·         Associates degree in Automotive Technology or closely related field from an accredited College or University;

·         More than three (3) years of work experience as an Automotive Technician;

·         Previous teaching experience in a high school or College environment.

·         Experience with blueprint reading and welding symbol identification.

·         Current ASE Master Tech certification

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
