Employment Terms: This job is a full-time, benefited position in Nursing Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Nursing Sciences.

 

Salary: $74,880/yr.  (The position is grant funded, therefore, continued employment is contingent on renewal of funding on an annual basis.)

 

Schedule - 40-hours per week, on campus, at the Lawrenceville campus; Monday through Friday; May work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate or Master's degree in discipline OR pursuing Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in discipline completed. Current RN licensure in Georgia.  Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all regulatory agencies and appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Please include current resume, transcripts and RN license

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, knowledge of credential systems such as: ACEMAPP, ASSURE, Symplr, tracking or data system, etc. Three years prior work experience as a registered nurse in a hospital or educational setting. Experience in virtual simulation. Ability to teach in class, lab, and/or clinical settings; CPR certification required. Proficiency in preparation and delivery of classroom instruction, student advisement, and curriculum development.  Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, and students, in a collegial and multicultural environment.  Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use software programs: Excel, Microsoft suite, etc.   

 

Job Description Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator must be responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the nursing sciences division, ex. ADN program. Assist with the identification and evaluation of potential clinical sites. Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction for credited nursing courses, Mental health and/or Med-surg required and/or critical care/Advanced medical-surgical nursing preferred. Develops and maintains relationships with clinical facilities. Develops and maintains clinical partnership contract data. Supervise and evaluate faculty and students in clinical/lab/sim/class settings. Utilizes the credentialing system (ACEMAPP, ASSURE, etc.) that populates all clinical placements for nursing students. Develops and maintains a directory of instructors and student health requirements. Follows-up with faculty and students to ensure they are updated with clinical requirements. Manages and maintains accurate and up-to-date faculty and student credential data. Recruits and supervises adjunct faculty for clinical sites. Supervises program support specialist. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

 

Knowledgeable and willing to learn various software platforms, such as Blackboard, Docucare, ACEMAPP, ASSURE, Symplr, Tableau, Taleo, Degree works, Low and High-fidelity mannequins, etc. The willingness to pivot with the changing nursing environment. All clinical faculty need to follow the protocol for credentialing at affiliated agencies (Immunizations, TB-testing, chest-x-ray, drug screen, background check, clinical/unit orientation, file upload to ACEMAPP, ASURE, BLS, nursing license, etc.). This position requires pre-employment drug testing and random testing. In collaboration, creates lesson plans for clinical instruction/class for credited nursing courses.

 

If offered a position, employees in this department must complete the Hazardous Materials Training as well as the Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogen training annually and complete Pre-employment Drug Screen. In addition, this position is subject to random drug screening. Clinical sites vary from semester to semester. Clinical locations are in Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, Dekalb, Fulton, Hall, Athens, Fulton, Atlanta, Forsyth, Gainesville and additional counties as needed.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Percentage of Time:

In collaboration with the Dean, directs the clinical aspect of the credited nursing courses:

·         Coordinate identification and evaluation of potential clinical sites

·         Assist with coordination, identification and evaluation of industry/clinical equipment/software

·         Evaluate the clinical sites for appropriateness of achieving course and program learning objectives

·         Develops and maintains relationships with clinical facilities and liaisons with the clinical agencies for student placement

·         Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts

·         Develops and maintains a directory of requirements and procedures for all clinical agencies

·         Follows up with clinical facilities regarding incidents at clinical site.

·         Assist with updates to the student handbook, ADN faculty handbook, and clinical/Sim resource guide

·         Coordinate collecting and analyzing data to help complete ACEN and BON reporting requirements

·         Coordinate adjunct faculty training, orientation, teaching, and guiding students in the clinical field

·         Manages and maintains accurate and up-to-date faculty and student credential data to comply with accreditation requirements, the State of Georgia, and clinical agencies

·         Follows up with faculty and students to ensure they are updated with requirements

·         Participate as a clinical faculty supporting, training, teaching, and guiding students in the clinical field

·         In collaboration with program director, hire, train, manage and supervision of program support specialist, and adjuncts. Assist with adjuncts as needed.

In collaboration with the Dean, directs the clinical credentialing of students for credited nursing courses:

·         Develop lesson plans for clinical/class instruction for credited nursing courses

·         Develop and coordinate clinical orientation for students

·         In collaboration with the program director/coordinator, develop tools, policy and procedure for the clinical arena.

·         Evaluates students' progress in the clinical arena of the program in attaining goals and objectives

·         Maintains an accurate student list, assuring progression standards are met each semester

·         Utilizing ACEMAPP, ASSURE, and other systems, to populate all clinical placements for nursing students

·         Sends final schedule and data requirements to the course coordinator/program director, clinical sites, and adjunct faculty

In collaboration with the Dean, directs the clinical credentialing of faculty for credited nursing courses:

  • Coordination of adjuncts onboarding orientation and clinical site orientation (program clinical training, clinical site requirements, health record access, privacy/security coordination, all faculty/student access to EHR) in all patient care areas. 
  • Assures clinical faculty submits clinical evaluations and complete all clinical course work
  • Utilizing ACEMAPP, ASSURE, and other systems, to coordinate all clinical placements for nursing students.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of the clinical aspect of the nursing program.

Prepares lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction for credited Nursing courses. (Performed by all incumbents)

  • Delivers effective individualized programs of instruction to class members.
  • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
  • Correctly assesses the educational needs and class progress of students.
  • Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.
  • Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals and progress schedule.
  • Serves as mentor for adjunct faculty within program area.
  • Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials.

Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives. (Performed by some incumbents)

·         Prepares appropriate curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve objectives and goals of students.

·         Follows designated and approved lesson plan(s) using appropriate techniques and aids.

·         Participates in standing or ad hoc committee meetings relating to curriculum development, extracurricular activities and other technical college sponsored activities or programs as required.

  • Prepares program reports for submission to supervisor within specified time frames of request.

·         Establishes criteria and tests the students in order to measure each student's progress.

·         Communicates students' progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.

·         Submits correct supply and equipment budget requests as necessary in accordance to established guidelines.

Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. (Performed by all incumbents.)

·         Attends required number of hours of required training.

·         Participates in education meetings, workshops, etc. as requested.

·         Ensures certification meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and guidelines.

·         Thoroughly conducts a self-study of the program's compliance with technical college, program and accreditation standards.

·         Maintains a secure training and work area that proves freedom of movement for students during the performance of work and training assignments and complies with the security requirements of the organization.

Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students. (Performed by all incumbents.)
