View Point Health provides comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder services to individuals and families across its service area. The Director of PACE Detox and SUD Nursing Services has a critical leadership role within a short-term, medically monitored detoxification setting, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care while supporting access, nursing flow, documentation integrity, and operational performance.

 

PACE Detox Center is a short-term, 24/7 residential substance use detoxification program focused on medical monitoring, stabilization, and early engagement in recovery services. The program emphasizes safety, therapeutic engagement, coordinated access to care, and timely transitions to appropriate levels of treatment.

 

The Director of PACE Detox and SUD Nursing Services provides administrative, operational, and nursing leadership for a voluntary residential detoxification program serving adults with substance use disorders. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the detox unit, ensuring safe, evidence-based withdrawal management services and high-quality care consistent with agency standards, HFRD regulations, and grant requirements associated with the Georgia Opioid Trust.  PACE Detox Center is a 24/7 residential withdrawal management program providing medical monitoring, observation, and early recovery engagement for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The Director of PACE Detox & SUD Nursing Services also oversees program performance related to access to care, patient flow, safety, compliance, and grant performance metrics associated with Georgia Opioid Trust funding.

 

This position will also oversee nursing services for other programs within the SUD services such as: GRAN Recovery (30 days in-patient recovery program), Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Residential program.

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES                              

Program Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the detox unit to ensure safe, efficient, and effective delivery of withdrawal management services.
  • Facilitate unit leadership team meetings and contributes to team efforts to manage unit and client concerns by utilizing multidisciplinary strategies and developing action plans to accomplish results.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship among unit disciplines by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, and ensuring implementation of program and skills groups is sustainable.
  • Promotes a supportive team environment that reflects the agency’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensure the program maintains a structured, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and clinical protocols related to detoxification services.

Clinical Oversight & Evidence-Based Detox Protocols

  • Ensure implementation of evidence-based detoxification protocols for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), and other substance use disorders.
  • Support medical providers and nursing leadership in implementing safe and effective buprenorphine induction and stabilization protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices related to withdrawal symptom monitoring, medication administration, and clinical stabilization.
  • Collaborate with medical providers to address clinical concerns and ensure continuity of care. 

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff working within the detox program.
  • Provide direct supervision to unit leadership staff, including nursing leadership and clinical supervisors.
  • Oversee and/or completes performance evaluations of all unit staff members.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of agency disciplinary policies and procedures.
  • Provides timely coaching to staff that is documented and implements disciplinary actions when necessary in accordance with agency policies.
  • Regularly counsel employees whose leave balances or leave usage fall below established standards and take appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Promote staff development through mentoring, coaching, and ongoing training opportunities.

Access to Care & Program Flow

  • Ensure timely access to detox services for individuals seeking care.
  • Work collaboratively with program leadership to maintain appropriate census levels and patient flow.
  • Support coordination of admissions, discharges, and transitions to appropriate levels of care.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to timely admissions, length of stay, and discharge outcomes, particularly AMA to Routine discharge ratios. 

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with HFRD regulations, licensing standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of detox program policies and ensures staff adherence.
  • Facilitate monthly process improvement meetings and tracks program performance metrics.
  • Collect and analyze program data related to quality outcomes, safety incidents, and service utilization.
  • Prepare reports for CQI review and leadership meetings as required. 

Fiscal Oversight & Grant Management

  • Oversee program budget planning and fiscal performance in collaboration with agency leadership.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of funding provided through the Georgia Opioid Trust.
  • Support grant writing & reporting requirements and monitoring of program outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve program efficiency and responsible use of resources. 

Operational Coverage & On-Call Responsibilities

  • Participate in administrative on-call rotation to provide leadership support for urgent program issues.
  • Serve as a resource to staff regarding clinical, operational, or safety concerns.
  • Respond to critical incidents and ensures appropriate follow-up and documentation.
  • In rare circumstances, when staffing shortages occur and after all PRN staff have been contacted and the Charge RN is unable to provide coverage, the Unit Director may be required to provide temporary clinical or nursing coverage to ensure safe unit operations and continuity of care.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based detox protocols for Alcohol Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse, two (2) of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse; or eight (8) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (HCP073), two (2) years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment, four (4) years of which as a supervisor and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and two (2) years of Public Health nursing experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in detoxification or residential substance use disorder treatment.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based withdrawal management protocols.
  • Experience implementing or overseeing buprenorphine protocols.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Experience working with HFRD regulations and quality improvement processes.
  • Experience managing programs funded through public or grant funding sources.

 

 

Requirements/Competencies:

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
  • Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
