This position is assigned to the following county:

·         CHATHAM

The selected applicant must reside in this county or the surrounding area or be willing to relocate.

 

 

Job Summary / Description:

Under general supervision, inspect and test the accuracy of large capacity scales such as vehicle scales, livestock scales, etc.

·         Operate test equipment associated with the test unit.

·         Drive the scale test unit to inspection sites.

·         Enforcing the Georgia weights and measures laws and related regulations

·         Testing, inspecting, and determining the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices used commercially in Georgia, including vehicle, livestock, hopper, warehouse, and forklift scales

·         Investigating related consumer complaints and preparing documentation related to events

·         This position requires occasional overnight travel

·         This position is part of a two-person team

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Valid Georgia commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred; however, if the selected candidate does not have a CDL, they must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and be willing to obtain a CDL within six months of employment. DOA will pay any fees associated with the new license

·         Must have a clean driving record

·         Must have communication and customer service skills

·         Maintain the State vehicle and all equipment for the job

·         Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions

·         General knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic computer skills

·         Basic mathematical skills

·         High school diploma or GED required

·         Selected applicants must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of the assigned territory

 

Physical Demands:                                                                                                                                                                         

·         Standing for long periods of time; intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving

·         Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. for short periods of time

 

Other Duties:

·         Price Verification Inspection: Confirming multiple items marked prices with the scanner price.
