This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Administrative Services Division that reports to the Executive Director of Budget Compliance and Reporting.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with education and experience not to exceed $48,880/yr.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 16140)
Associate Degree *and* Three (3) years of payroll or related accounting experience • Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the minimum qualifications,

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.

·         Experience with the State of Georgia TeamWorks HCM System.

·         Experience with automated payroll processing a high volume full-cycle payroll 500+ employees.

 

Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, the Payroll Technician is responsible for reviewing and entering payroll data into accounting system. 

 

Competencies: 

·         Ability to analyze and interpret payroll data and statistics

·         Ability to understand the relationship between payroll and financial systems

·         Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and manage time in a fast-paced environment

·         Knowledge of records retention practices

·         Knowledge of Federal, State and Agency payroll laws, policies and procedures.

·         Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Percentage of Time:

Reviews payroll data for accuracy and enters payroll transactions/data into accounting system

Reviews and/or reconciles payroll records. Identifies errors and makes corrections

Performs limited general clerical responsibilities related to payroll functions

Analyzes periodic reports and reconciles contents with other records such as: health insurance, retirement benefits, or related reports

Processes payroll void and hand drawn/adjustment requests

Processes third-party requests involving employee pay- garnishments, levies, bankruptcies and child support wage assignments

Maintains payroll file information

Serve as back-up to Accounts Receivable – Setup AR entries.
