Nature of Duties: Under general supervision prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction, prepares course syllabi; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Teaches Spanish courses students that are English as their primary language for the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.  Provides instruction in the practical applications of Spanish . Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Position may require day/evening classes and activities. 

Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the Executive Director when openings become available.  Future teaching assignments are on a situational basis, which may include fall, spring and summer.  Postings close yearly on July 31; to maintain your application within the system, you will need to reapply each year.

 

Minimum Qualifications: (candidates must meet all minimum qualifications to be considered)

·         Proficiency in Spanish:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English

·         Educational Background:  Understanding of teaching methods and knowledge of Spanish culture

·         Experience in bi-lingual conversation and translation.

·         Technology Skills:  Experience with classroom technology and digital teaching resources.

·         Cultural Competence:  Strong organization, problem-solving and communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Formal training in Spanish/English to be able to translate to either language

·         Teaching experience at the postsecondary level

·         Experience teaching in an online or hybrid environment
