The Georgia Department of Agriculture functions as a regulatory agency, a consumer protection agency, and a marketing agency with over 20 different divisions and a wide regulatory scope that includes everything from production agriculture to fuel sales to food safety and consumer protection. In many ways, we are the only agency that impacts all 11 million Georgians every single day – from the gas pump to the grocery store and everywhere in between. Under broad supervision, the Plan Examiner is responsible for reviewing and approving elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation system designs for code compliance.

Evaluate applications and examine plans, and drawings for compliance with applicable state, national codes, regulations, and laws.

Approve or reject elevator plans and permit applications based on rules and regulations.

Prepare correspondence informing applicants of decisions and appeals processes.

Serve as subject matter expert and resource for designated discipline.

Monitor compliance with licensing and certification requirements.

Coordinate with inspectors to address non-compliance, unsafe conditions, or violations.

Maintain comprehensive records of plan reviews, correspondence, licensing actions, and enforcement activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level (RCT010) or position equivalent.
