POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Georgia Department of Agriculture – Tifton Laboratory Facility is located in Tifton, Georgia, and is a part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Laboratory Division.

The Tifton Laboratory Facility is responsible for testing seed, feed, and pesticides, and for testing fuels and calibrating weights and volume provers for the State of Georgia, as well as other states and external customers.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain lawn areas, including mowing, trimming of weeds, application of pesticides, etc.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the external facility, including removal of grass clippings and general debris.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the internal facility, including removal of trash, general cleaning, and other duties.
  • Maintain landscaping.
  • Assist the Tifton Laboratory Facility Manager as needed.

 

Other duties as assigned

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting and working with your hands for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Must be able to lift 50lb. boxes
  • Intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, etc.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Must possess a high school diploma / GED

·         One (1) year of experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

  • Pesticide Applicator License
  • Previous lawn maintenance or groundskeeper experience
