Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the supervising Registered Nurse. Handles front office duties which include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing and coding for insurance purposes. Assists in the clinic by taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and drawing blood. Adheres to HIPAA regulations. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.
 
Essential functions include (but are not limited to):
• Records patients’ medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records.
• Performs front office duties which include patient intake, screening, taking payments, answering telephones, and scheduling appointments.
• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
 
External candidates: will be hired as an  MA 2; based on education and/or experience   
Internal candidates: are eligible for a lateral transfer as a MA 2 or MA 3; must be currently working as a Medical Assistant
 
MA 2 Minimum QualificationsAssociate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with one (1) year experience in a related field; or High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in medical assisting; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Medical Assistant 1 (HCT100) or position equivalent.  $39,714.14 Annually/Pay Grade F
 
Internal Only: MA 3 Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with one (1) year experience in a related field; or High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in medical assisting; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Medical Assistant 1 (HCT100) or position equivalent. $43,008.52 Annually/Pay Grade G

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the specific program area of the position is a plus. Knowledge and usage of computers and Windows software-related programs. Medical experience, patient registration, and customer service experience. Medical Assisting Certificate. Bilingual.
 
Work Conditions & Physical DemandsPosition does not require excessive physical exertion but is not a sedentary position. Requires occasional lifting of less than 50 pounds, walking to/from workstation and other clinical areas.
 
Remote Work: ***Employees authorized for remote/hybrid work must reside and perform their job duties exclusively within the state of Georgia. Remote/hybrid work arrangements outside the state are not permitted under current policy.
