The CNA Program Coordinator will direct both lecture and laboratory activities for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program staff and students at GPTC’s DeKalb and Newton campuses. This may include Dual Enrollment courses at the Newton College and Career Academy in Covington, GA. Instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the CNA curriculum, evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. In addition, they will manage maintenance of supplies and equipment and ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area. The instructor will report to the Division Chair.  Essential functions of the CNA Lead Instructor/Coordinator will include: Provide instruction that covers the curriculum for assigned classes, creating a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism; Support program outcomes, assuring compliance with program expectations; Perform student evaluations and use continuous quality improvement techniques to determine the effectiveness of instruction and student achievement ; Maintain accurate student records to create reports as requested by the Division Chair, Dean, and the organization; Assess and identify students needing assistance. Refer and aid as needed; Prepare and update course syllabi for each course taught; Advise and motivate students on program expectations and career choices; Assist other instructors as needed; Participate in program development activities, including program meetings and organization meetings as needed; Cultivate relationships/partnerships with healthcare organizations for program internships and externships; Develop and maintain personal interest in communities served by the program; participate in community activities.

Minimum qualifications include: Associate degree required; Licensed Registered Nurse (licensed in Georgia); Certified Train the Trainer (or must complete within 45 days of hire); American Heart Association CPR Instructor; One year of nursing experience in a nursing home; Three or more years, within the last five of full-time, in-field work experience as an RN; Registered Nurse licensed in Georgia. Candidate must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Certified Nurse’s Assistant profession including the relationship to other professions in the medical field. Experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels the faculty will be expected to teach. All credentials must be provided at the time of interview.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. BLS Healthcare Provider Instructor certified cardholder is preferred. Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring high school-level students. All credentials must be provided at the time of interview.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
