DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under supervision, the Compliance Specialist plans, organizes, and coordinates activities related to Soil Amendments, Fertilizer, and Lime.
This position manages and directs statewide inspectors to ensure that distributors and applicators of these regulated products comply with all applicable state and federal laws.
1. Monitors and ensures compliance of the regulated community with Division policies and procedures.
2. Supervises, guides, and instructs the activities of assigned field inspectors.
3. Represents primary point-of-contact for complaints and coordinates investigation proceedings.
4. Evaluate inspection and laboratory reports to determine appropriate enforcement response.
5. Reviews applications for product registration and licensing.
6. Acts as liaison with other state agencies when coordination is necessary.
7. Serves as a resource on nutrient management, soil science, and related environmental issues for the general public and the regulated community.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
1. Bachelor’s degree in soil science, agronomy, animal science, agriculture, or a related area.
2. Current Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) or willingness to obtain certification within one year.
3. Experience in crop production & soil management.
4. Working knowledge of scientific & technical principles applicable to nutrient management as well as knowledge of relevant laws & regulations.
5. Ability to manage personnel.
