Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Office of - OCI

Under supervision, the Special Agent investigates alleged or suspected violations of state, or local laws, rules and regulations to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution or to report findings to the appropriate jurisdiction authority for their action.

Collaborates with other authorities on activities such as surveillance, transcription, and research.

Conducts background investigations.

Conducts internal investigations of law enforcement agencies.

Examine records to locate links in chains of evidence or information.

Obtains and verifies evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses, or by analyzing records.

Obtains information related to cases.

Prepare reports that detail investigation findings.

Train to identify case issues and evidence needed.

 Utilize proper software programs to store, collate and review financial information and evidence.

Performs other duties as signed.

All candidacy presentations are subject to verification.  Applicants selected for hire must be able to pass routine criminal, driver’s history background, medical, voice stress analysis and psychological examination.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and must meet the prerequisites and complete the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program certification; or two (2) years of experience in law enforcement or related field and Georgia P.O.S.T. certification. Note: Some positions may require the incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
