Practical Nursing Clinical Adjunct - Currahee Campus

POSITION:             Practical Nursing Clinical Adjunct - Part Time

LOCATION:            Currahee Campus

Applications will be reviewed on an as needed basis.

Job Responsibilities:

·         Direct, instruct, and guide students in the clinical and simulation lab setting

·         Complete clinical and simulation orientation and simulation debrief training with the Clinical and Simulation Coordinator if needed

·         Complete orientation to the clinical site/unit prior to first clinical rotation

·         Facilitate development of student’s critical thinking, clinical judgement, decision-making, communication, and professional skills while maintaining patient and student safety and patient confidentiality

·         Engage students in comprehensive observation, assessment, and education of patients

·         Assist students in collecting pertinent objective and subjective data regarding patient’s health status

·         Promote a safe learning environment

·         Hold student pre- and post-clinical conferences

·         Communicate with lead course faculty to orient to the course and review student learning outcomes

·         Review PN Student Handbook and follow established clinical policies and procedures

·         Evaluate students’ progress in meeting clinical, simulation, and course outcomes

·         Grade written clinical assignments and return graded work to students in a timely manner

·         Complete mid-term and final clinical evaluations for each student

·         Participate in ongoing communication with course faculty regarding issues and individual student learning needs and progress

·         Provide feedback about adequacy of clinical site in allowing students to meet course outcomes

·         Meet with the PN Program Director to review student or faculty evaluations of the clinical instructor to grow in teaching effectiveness

·         Willing to learn various software and platforms, such as EHR Tutor, ATI, ACEMAPP, and CAE LearningSpace

·         Demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible, professional behavior

·         Foster and promote relationships with clinical facilities

·         Complete all mandatory organizational education and clinical affiliate requirements within specified time frame

·         All clinical faculty must follow the protocol for credentialing at affiliated agencies (Immunizations, TB-testing, chest-x-ray, drug screen, background check, clinical/unit orientation, file upload to ACEMAPP, CPR, nursing license)

Minimum Qualifications

·         Associate Science in Nursing degree from an accredited institution

·         Three (3) years' work experience as a nurse within the past seven (7) years

·         Georgia RN license in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

·         Teaching experience in a Practical Nursing program

·         Experience using simulation equipment for nursing education

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
