GRHS is seeking candidates for the position of Chaplain. This is an hourly position. Hourly positions work on average 29 hours per week and are not eligible for State Benefits.

 

FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. 

 

Job Description:

The role of the Chaplain is to provide and/or facilitate the provision of spiritual and religious care to individuals and staff, of any faith or of no particular faith, as appropriate to the individual’s need. The department works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, and with other providers of spiritual and religious care, especially Faith communities and their leaders. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Helps meet the spiritual and religious needs of mental health individuals in an inpatient setting

·         Provides direct pastoral care, either one-to-one or in groups

·         Conducts public worship, coordinating and communicating with community care providers from diverse faith perspectives to meet the ongoing needs of our individuals

·         Responsible for educating staff regarding faith-sensitive issues in direct care

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Licensed Ordained Minister

·         Experience working with Adult Mental Health and/or Forensic Mental Health individuals is a plus but not required

·         At least Bachelor’s degree from accredited college, seminary or university AND Three years’ experience in the ministry

 

Employment Requirements
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, individuals and communities we serve, certain positions within DBHDD may require evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure and certifications. Licenses must be current and enable providers to practice within the State of Georgia. 

The following are a listing of evaluations and vaccinations that may be required for employees, including those not involved with direct care:

·         Drug Screening

·         TB Evaluation

·         Annual Influenza*

*Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
