Community Supervision, Department of - DCS

Under direct supervision, attends all Superior Court sessions to receive probation cases and ensure that all received cases are entered into a database and assigned to a Community Supervision Officer.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews the Court calendars to ensure that offenders listed have no active cases or pending revocation hearing.  If so, takes needed information to Court and notifies assigned CSO

  • Attends Superior Court sessions to include sentencing, trials, pleas that include offenders being placed on probation.

  • Records information on defendants who are sentenced to include:  Docket #, length of sentence, special conditions of probation.  Also gets the offender's personal information.

  • Type Sentences in court (if not done by Clerk or DA’s Office), prepares waivers and gathers intake information from Probationers

  • Serves the defendant with general conditions of probation in Court.

  • Instructs offender with report day, time and location 

  • Collects signed sentences from Court

  • Ensures that all probation cases that were received in Court have a corresponding sentence of probation

  • Enters personal information and Court information in the PORTAL system

  • Maintain documentation and updates to databases, such as GCIC, NCIC, Portal, and Scribe systems.

  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement and local service providers

  • Obtains information for pre-sentence investigations and conducts record checks

  • Familiar with Interstate Compact rules and regulations in the transfer of offenders.  Ensure the Court is aware of these rules.

  • Initiate referrals to GDC for offenders ordered to Detention Center, ITP, RSAT, and Boot Camp

  • Monitor releases from parole and assign cases.

  • Experience handling complex or non-routine administrative issues with minimal supervision. 

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of college-level coursework (e.g., an associate's degree or certificate) in Office Administration, Business, or a related field. Two years experience interpreting court orders, policies, legal terminology,  judicial processes and procedures accurately and applying them appropriately. Two years of demonstrated proficiency with at least two years experience in at least two specific software platforms applications (e.g., Google, Microsoft Office) beyond basic computer use.

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of progressively complex office or administrative experience.
