Job Summary:

Under broad supervision, serves as lead instructor for training personnel. Develops and instructs courses of staff development and training established for enforcement or prevention. Provides specialized training in assigned fields.

 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision

  • Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas

  • Administers day-to-day operations for assigned training region or programs

  • Develops instructional material and teaching aids; updates training materials to reflect current developments

  • Guides trainees during field exercises, enforces safety protocols

  • Inspects facilities and equipment regularly to identify and correct unsafe conditions

  • Maintains accurate training records; provides certificates Makes recommendations for improvement of courses Models and demonstrates skills and techniques correctly

  • Participates in the research and design of statewide training programs Plans, coordinates and schedules training classes for agency personnel Supervises instructional staff

  • Trains students in critical public safety skills or specialties by demonstrating skills and techniques correctly.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED, Georgia P.O.S.T General Instructor certification, and eighteen (18) months of full-time instructor work-related experience in peace officer, correctional, fire service, EMS, or rescue topics applicable to the area of assignment, or two (2) years required work experience at the lower level Public Safety, Trainer 2 (PSP031).

  • Note: Must be eligible to obtain required Georgia P.O.S.T. specialty instructor certifications, Basic

  • Law Enforcement certification, or P.O.S.T. certification as a peace officer.
