GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Outreach/Marketing and Training/Events Coordinator will play a dual role in supporting the Office of Downtown Development. Under the supervision of the Director, this position will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of both virtual and in-person training events. In addition, the role will oversee the office's social media presence, creating and managing content that enhances community engagement and strengthens the organization's brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Training & Event Coordination
· Create, plan and implement virtual and in-person training events, workshops, and conferences hosted by the Office of Downtown Development.
· Secure venues, negotiate contracts with hotels for room blocks and special event rates, and coordinate with local businesses or vendors for catering and event needs.
· Manage event logistics including scheduling, technology setup, and on-site coordination.
· Oversee online registration processes including payment processing and customer support.
· Prepare all materials and supporting documentation for training sessions and events.
Social Media Management & Content Creation
· Develop and implement strategic social media campaigns across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
· Create original and engaging content (text, images, and video) tailored to platform-specific audiences.
· Maintain and manage a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting.
· Monitor social media accounts, engage with followers, and respond to comments and messages to foster community relationships.
· Track performance metrics and analytics to inform content strategy and optimize future campaigns.
· Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and algorithm changes to maintain relevance and impact.
Program Coordination and Implementation
· Develop and refine knowledge of the Main Street Approach
· Collaborate with team members to educate and strengthen the capacity of Main Streets, DDAs, and other community economic development partners
· Partner with nonprofit organizations (Georgia Cities Foundation, GDA, etc.) to improve business attraction and retention programs and provide technical assistance to downtowns
· Provide best practices to local downtown programs on marketing, community engagement, and social media
· Coordinate with DCA colleagues to deliver services to designated Main Streets and other local downtown revitalization entities
Helpful Characteristics:
· Knowledge of the Main Street Approach and the Georgia Main Street Program
· Knowledge in the operations and needs of local development authorities, local governments, and regional commissions
· Skill in oral and written communication including a high level of comfort in public forums
· Solid interpersonal skills and ability to interact with internal and external partners
· Attention to detail; excellent time management and organizational skills
· Ability to manage multiple tasks
· Experience organizing educational and training events
Necessary Attributes:
· Knowledge of community and economic development, community planning, and historic preservation
· Understanding of social media platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems
· Knowledge of relevant software and other technical tools frequently used in this field
· Ability to present material and speak effectively to diverse groups of people to communicate the importance of downtown development, community planning, historic preservation and economic development
Agency-Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Program Consultant 2 - Bachelor's degree in a directly relevant field from an accredited college or university in a related field AND Five years of related experience. This is not an entry-level position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with:
· Master's degree in a directly relevant field from an accredited college or university in a related field AND Five years of related experience.
· Strong understanding of social media platforms, analytics tools, audience engagement strategies and content management systems
· Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software).
· Proven experience managing professional social media accounts for a brand, business, or organization
· Excellent written communication and visual storytelling skills
· Ability to balance creativity with strategy and data-driven decision-making
· Experience managing or working with a Main Street Program or Downtown Development Authority organization.
· Experience in local government, community/economic development, or community planning
· Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating training sessions, educational workshops, or similar events, including developing content, managing registration, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a positive participant experience.
· Experience with RegFox, MailChimp, Formstack, and Thinkific
· Knowledge of Georgia, its communities and regional commissions and the State’s processes and regulations related to local government management and operations (community planning, government finance, economic development, regulatory compliance, development authorities, etc.)
Position Requirements:
Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide a writing sample prior to the interview. 1-2 onsite interviews will be scheduled with the best-qualified candidates. The selected candidate will be subject to a criminal background check, educational degree check, reference checks, and (because travel is required) a motor vehicle records check prior to the extension of a job offer. Applicant must have and maintain the legal ability to drive a vehicle in the State of Georgia.

Ideally, candidates should reside in the following counties located in Georgia State Service Delivery Region 1, 2 or 5 in order to qualify for position:
· Region 1 includes: Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield Counties
· Region 2 includes: Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White Counties.
· Region 5 includes: Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton Counties.

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS,ENVIRONMENT)
Frequent travel via automobile is required with occasional travel to out-of-state conferences via airplane (travel expenses reimbursed by the agency).
This may be a hybrid or remote position based on organizational need or individual qualifications and performance. Regular and frequent work from the headquarters location will be required but the specifics may be negotiable following an initial onboarding period (onboarding period may be waived for current DCA employees).
The incumbent will be responsible for providing their own internet access to facilitate their work from home when they are not at the office.
DCA will provide a work cellphone and other necessary hardware/equipment. The hybrid or remote nature of the position may be terminated at any time as determined by the agency.
PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Work is principally stationary, but the person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and constantly operate a computer and other office equipment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
