The incumbent for this position must perform the following duties: 

  •  Under broad supervision, provides general direct nursing care to injured, ill, convalescent or disabled individuals. Care includes providing medical treatments, administering medication and giving injections.
  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas. Administers prescribed medications or starts intravenous fluids, and notes times and amounts on clients' charts. Answers clients' calls and determines how to assist them.
  • Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes, conferring with other health-care team members as necessary. Helps clients with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, moving in bed, and standing and walking.
  • Measures and records clients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration. 
  • Observes clients, charting and reporting changes in clients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action. Provides basic client care and treatments, such as dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and massages, or performing catheterizations.
  • Records food and fluid intake and output. Supervises support staff. Works as part of a health care team to assess client needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions
Vocational/Technical degree from an accredited college AND current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND One year of nursing experience.

This is temporary or hourly paid work performing health care assistance services. Positions in this job are established for less than 9 months or scheduled for less than 30 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits if the position status is temporary (i.e., SCOA 513). Positions in this job are established for greater than 9 months and scheduled for greater than 30 hours per week if the position status is permanent labor (i.e., SCOA 512). Normally permanent labor positions are eligible for Health Insurance benefits.
