Job Description

Hours: 11:00am-7:30pm

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • May be required to drive long distances for placement, appointments, visits for the individuals
  • Escorts individuals to appointments, such as doctors' visits, leisure/ recreational activities and discharges, as necessary
  • Utilizes all appropriate security and safety precautions according to established guidelines
  • Provides basic patient care and works with individuals in a mental health setting to develop daily living skills
  • Completes required documentation in patient and unit records
  • Takes vital signs as needed and documents accordingly in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Ensures safety and security of individuals
  • Observes and documents patient data, behavior, and activity
  • Prepares individuals for treatments or examinations
  • Transports and/or accompanies individuals to treatment units
  • May assist with bathing or activities of daily living

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications 

Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED and a valid Driver’s License from the state in which candidate resides
  • 1+ years' direct care experience preferably some experience in Mental Health
  • Must have a clear MVR record and meet the Policy requirements for operating a State-owned vehicle: must be 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years driving experience.

Employment Requirements
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, individuals and communities we serve, certain positions within DBHDD may require evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure and certifications. Licenses must be current and enable providers to practice within the State of Georgia. 

The following are a listing of evaluations and vaccinations that may be required for employees, including those not involved with direct care:

  • Drug Screening
  • TB Evaluation
  • Annual Influenza*

*Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

High school diploma or GED.
High School diploma/GED and six (6) months of experience in a related field; one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Health Aide 1 (HCS020) or position equivalent.
