Full-Time Instructor - Diesel Technology

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Diesel Technology) position in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Industrial & Transportation Technology.  This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 

 

Under general supervision of the Dean of the Industrial & Transportation Technology division, and Department Chair of Automotive Technology Department, the Full-Time Instructor (Diesel Technology) develops and reviews program syllabus, goals, and objectives according to approved curriculum and syllabi standards. 

 

Job duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

·       Demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current procedures in the automotive/diesel field.

·       Evaluate and review students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.

·       Instruct, advise, and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records for each student.

·       Monitor use of supplies, materials, and equipment.

·       Request and maintain supplies and equipment and prepare budget requests.

·       Maintain and review classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.

·       Maintain and review program certification requires as appropriate.

·       Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative records.

·       Attend staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

·       Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

·       Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues.

·       Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

·       Demonstrate and ensure the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of gradebook, and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements).

·       Serve on committees.

·       Maintain ASE Certification and issuers instructor’s qualification for employment as described by the Atlanta Technical College and TCSG policy manual and accreditation standards.

·       Follow and enforce rules and regulations as described by TCSG policy manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

·       Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

 

Competencies:

·       Knowledge of vocational area of assignment.

·       Oral and written communication skills.

·       Skill in developing lesson outlines and material.

·       Knowledge of student information system.

·       Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress.

·       Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

 

 

·       High school diploma or equivalent AND a postsecondary diploma in automotive or diesel technology.

·       At least two (2) years of work related experience in the field.

·       Competencies, skills, and knowledge of diesel technology will be expected to bring into the classroom.

·      Must be able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both the classroom and lab setting, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communication with business, industry, and public sector.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Preferences may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

 

·       Associates degree or a combination of education, training, and experience to the degree attained.

·       Heavy equipment experience is a plus.
